Winds in the Mountains Tuesday into Wednesday. Fire Threat Minimal.

A low pressure system passing to our east Tuesday and Wednesday will bring strong winds to mountainous areas of the North Bay. (Image 1)

As of Tuesday winds were already gusting over 50 mph on the slopes of Cobb Mt. and other high elevation sites. (Image 2)

Due to recent rains and high fuel moisture fire danger remains low, and no warnings or advisories have been issued.

Looking further head, high pressure will bring warm weather with highs in the 70s this weekend. (Image 3)

The next chance for showers looks to be in the first week of April, as a cool trough sets up just west of California. (Image 4)

However, no big storms are in the horizon, and most long range outlooks show California can expect near to slightly below normal rainfall for April.

Here are the new European Weekly forecasts, predicting below average rainfall to start the month, and near average precipitation by later in the month. (Images 5 and 6)

So, we won’t be completely dry, but at this point no major storms are lurking for the North Bay either. We’ll keep you updated as the forecast evolves.
