Wet Weather Returning

Share with Friends

After a dry and cold Holiday week, wet and blustery weather is set to return to the North Bay this coming weekend.  The first storm will arrive late Friday or early Saturday, and bring generally 2 inches of rain or a bit more to Sonoma County.

Here is the forecast for rain, from this first system:

But, here’s where it gets interesting.  After the first storm brings rain Saturday into Sunday, a second system may move in later on Sunday, keeping the rain going, and even intensifying it.  Here’s how some models portray this storm, which may tap into an atmospheric river.

The most reliable model, the European was hinting this may happen, and other models are now coming into agreement.  So, what does that mean?  More rain, and rain continuing from Sunday into Monday, giving us bigger total rainfall numbers by next Tuesday.

As you can see, this would boost our rainfall in Sonoma County by about 2 inches, totaling 4 inches or more by next Tuesday.  Will it happen?  At this point, until the models all agree, it’s not certain.  But for now expect pretty good rains this weekend, with the real possibility of more rain coming in late on Sunday and continuing through Monday.
