Warm Memorial Day Weekend, then Hot Week Ahead

This picture was taken near Sonora Pass on Hwy 108 in the Sierra Nevada on Wednesday May 20th.  6-10 inches of snow fell there as Northern and Central California received much needed rain this past week.  California in the spring can be a land of contrasts!

As for our weather, forecast models are coming into agreement that the Memorial Day weekend will bring near perfect weather to the North Bay, with mostly clear skies and mild temperatures, even at the coast.

The satellite picture shows a system moving in up to our north. This will cool daytime temperatures a bit on Friday before a renewed warmup for the weekend.

By Sunday and Monday, Sonoma County and much of the North Bay should reach 90 degrees.

How about the week ahead?  The National Weather Service is forecasting some of the warmest temperatures of the year on Tuesday and Wednesday before a bit of a cool down by late in the week.

That means the warmest areas of the North Bay could reach 100 degrees or even slightly above by Wednesday, with most urban areas in the 90s.  Of course, if you are in a warm microclimate, expect to be nearing triple digits by Wednesday before cooling to the 80s or even high 70s later in the week.

As for a bit further ahead, longer range models hint the end of May could be quite hot across the entire Western U.S.
