UPDATE: Hennessey and Gamble Fires Grow Rapidly in Napa County

Share with Friends

Cal Fire and local fire agencies are battling at least two rapidly growing lightning sparked fires in eastern Napa County.  Both blazes broke out Monday morning to the east of the Napa Valley.

One fire, the Hennessey, started along Hennessey Ridge Road.  It had reached 750 acres as of early afternoon Monday and was exhibiting a rapid rate of spread.  The dangerous fire was being fought with multiple air tankers and crews on the ground.  More resources were being moved in, however due to the number of lightning fires in the Bay Area region, many air resources were tied up elsewhere.

It was first reported around 9AM and prompted evacuations along the ridge.  Mandatory evacuations were ordered along Sage Canyon Rd from Chiles Pope Valley Road to to Lower Chiles Road.  This area is east of the Napa town of Rutherford near the Hennessey Reservoir.

The second fire, the Gamble blaze was burning off Berryessa Knoxville Road west of Brooks in Napa County.  It was reported at 375 acres as of 1PM Monday.

We’ve included a time lapse image of fires burning in Napa County, including from the St. Helena South camera to the northwest of the fires, and the Atlas Peak West camera immediately to the south.
