Spectacular Space Images – Smokey Skies this Week

Share with Friends

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District has issued an air quality advisory, saying the North Bay Area will be under smokey skies for much of the next week.  The smoke is coming from the Mendocino Complex fires to our north, which have become the largest in state history.  Forecasters say the smoke will be mainly in the higher levels of the atmosphere through late Tuesday, then begin to filter downward to more directly affect the quality of the air we breathe through late in the week.

These images, taken from the International Space Station yesterday, show the Mendocino Complex fires producing huge amounts of smoke and ash.  The pictures were taken from off the Northern California and Southern California coasts.
