Sonoma County Provides New Online Links to Schedule Coronavirus Vaccinations

In an effort to reach individuals deemed most vunerable to COVID-19, Sonoma County announced on Friday that it would prioritize getting vaccine to those aged 75 and older. Although less than 10 percent of the county’s population, county health officials say this group represents some two thirds of all COVID related deaths in Sonoma County

As part of that effort, vaccination clinics across the county are now targeting the 36 thousand county residents who are over 75.

On Tuesday, Sonoma County added links to it’s vaccine webpage to allow those who fall into eligible groups to make appointments for available shots.

Vaccine Clinics

Last week, Sonoma County received approximately 6700 vaccine doses, with a total of about 50 thousand doses allocated to the county thus far, not including hospital allocations. With vaccine in short supply, the focus of county health officials is on getting shots to those over the age of 75 as well as remaining members of the healthcare community.

In approximately two weeks county officials say they will be able to provide vaccine to school districts in order to begin to vaccinate district employees across Sonoma County. They also hope to begin vaccinating those over the age of 65 and essential workers in the coming weeks.
