Santa Rosa, Police Move to Clear Highway 101 Underpass Encampment

For the first time since the start of the Sonoma County coronavirus emergency, the city of Santa Rosa moved today to clear a large encampment of the city’s unsheltered community.

The action came despite CDC and state guidelines that mandate leaving encampments in place, due to the possible danger of virus spread.

But, as Karl Van Amburg reports, city officials say the health and safety risks posed by the sprawling camp had gotten out of hand.
