Russian River Receeding. Slowly.

The Russian River has returned to its banks near Healdsburg, after flooding thousands of acres of farmland and towns between Cloverdale and Healdsburg.

Meanwhile the river’s levels are dropping on the lower stretch near Guerneville, but will remain above flood stage until early Friday.  Parts of Monte Rio, Rio Nido and Guerneville that were underwater briefly have now emerged, but flooding is still high.

Here is the river graph showing Russian River’s forecast levels for the next day or so.  Blue indicates where the river has been, green is the forecast.

By mid morning Thursday, the Russian had dropped 2-3 feet from its crest of 45.5 feet at Guerneville, reached around 10PM Wednesday, but will stay above flood stage until around 3AM on Friday.

Here are some images of flooding along the lower river.
