RED FLAG WARNING FOR INTERIOR NORTH BAY MOUNTAINS

Share with Friends

Due to a rapidly tightening pressure gradient and expected strong north winds, the NWS has issued a Red Flag Warning for the North Bay mountains from 11PM Tuesday to 8PM Wednesday.

The fire threat is most heightened for the interior mountains of Napa County near the Sacramento Valley, where winds are expected to be strongest, and humidity recovery overnight the weakest.

The winds are expected to peak early to mid morning on Wednesday, possibly reaching 30-40 MPH with higher gusts over the hills of interior Napa County.

PG&E has issued a Public Safety Power Shutoff warning, for areas near the Sacramento Valley, including small parts of Napa and Lake Counties. To find out if you are affected, visit the PSPS page here https://pgealerts.alerts.pge.com/outages/map/ and enter your address.

Finally, due to the northerly winds, we should see more smoke over the North Bay and Bay Area on Wedesday. Here is the smoke forecast for early AM Wednesday. Conditions should improve late Wednesday into Thursday.

As we posted yesterday, Wednesday will be the hottest day, with highs from 90-104 inland. Then a big cool down comes Friday with Thursday a transition day.
