With another heat and wind event due to arrive in Sonoma County and the North Bay on Saturday, as of late Thursday PG&E says it is “watching the weather” and is yet to add the region to its PSPS Watch area.
As of Thursday afternoon, PG&E was showing the graphic below with zones 2 and 5, in the Northern Sacramento Valley, listed as on watch for a PSPS event. The North and East Bay were not yet listed.
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has a Fire Weather Watch in effect for the hills and mountains of the North Bay as well as the East Bay hills and valleys, and will likely upgrade that to a Red Flag Warning on Friday.
A moderate offshore wind event, accompanied by a longer heat event, is due to start on Saturday with the highest wind gusts of 50mph on the peaks of the North Bay expected late Saturday into early Sunday morning. Another rise in the winds is possible late Sunday into Monday.
Heat exceeding 100 degrees in many spots is forecast as early as Saturday and will continue through Tuesday.
