Peaceful “Silent March” in Santa Rosa to Demand Justice

They took inspiration from the past, but Saturday’s march from Santa Rosa J.C. to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department was very much rooted in the present.

Wearing white in honor of the famous New York City Silent March of 1917, the Sonoma County organization Love and Light led a 1PM march of hundreds of protesters Saturday down Mendicino Ave. to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department. There they presented a list of demands regarding police reform.

Across the nation, from Seattle to the east coast, similar silent marches were scheduled this weekend as protests demanding justice for George Floyd and demaning an end to police brutality continued into a third week.
