PG&E will decide sometime this afternoon if it will turn power off to some 34 thousand customers in Sonoma County and more than 20 thousand others in Napa and Lake counties.

PG&E provided a map of potential shutoff zones in Sonoma, Napa and Lake counties.

A close up of the Santa Rosa area shows outage potential on the northeast side of the city, including Rincon Valley, Annadel Heights, Larkfield, Mark West, Oakmont and Kenwood, and including much of the Sonoma and Napa Valleys.  Parts of Windsor, Healdsburg and Geyserville would also be affected.

PGE has been contacting customers in areas where power may go out.

Winds this morning were generally light with a few exceptions.  The north Healdsburg Hills guage at 2400 feet registered gusts at 31 miles per hour, and the top of Mt. St. Helena at 4300 feet reported a gust of 46 miles per hour.  In this map, top wind gusts are red, humidity is green, and temperature is black.

The map below shows conditions as of 2:30PM Tuesday.  The winds had died down but temperatures were soaring over 100 degrees, and humidities were ranging from 15-20 percent.

A Red Flag Warning remains up for the North Bay hills and mountains, and a Heat Advisory for extreme temperatures is also in effect.

Temperatures today across the North Bay are expected to top 100 degrees inland, with 80s to even 90 degrees at the coast.  A dry offshore wind is expected to pick up this afternoon and evening.

Sonoma County and the city of Santa Rosa have declared emergencies and opened Emergency Operations Centers, and Santa Rosa will open a drop in cooling center at Finley Community Center on West College Avenue beginning today at 11AM.  Cooling centers are also open in Petaluma and Windsor.

On Wednesday, hot temperatures will continue, but winds will die down and Thursday will bring a major cooling trend.
