Hazardous Air Quality Continues across North Bay

Share with Friends
Hazardous air quality continues to plague the North Bay and all of Sonoma County this Friday.
Air Quality Index values as high as 400 have been observed in the morning hours across the county. This is due to the inversion cap on our area, trapping pollutants and wood smoke from the Glass Fire near the ground.
A Spare the Air alert has been extended through Tuesday throughout the Bay Area. And, the North Bay is expected to have the worst air during that period.
Health experts advise everyone to stay indoors as much as possible, and if you need to be outdoors wear a quality filtering mask that traps small particulates such as N95 or KN95. Prolonged exposure to air this hazardous could result in serious health impacts.
By Saturday, the National Weather Service expects the high pressure ridge over our area to weaken somewhat, allowing cooling breezes off the ocean to begin. Most cooling in our area may wait until Sunday. However this marine influence will most likely begin to clear the smoke from the valleys of the North Bay.
