The National Weather Service has upgraded its Watch to a Freeze Warning beginning overnight Tuesday for the North Bay and most inland regions of the Bay Area. A hard freeze with many hours of below freezing temperatures is expected for three consecutive nights. (Image 1)
In the North Bay that means the coldest spots may reach 25 degrees, with many other locations between 27-30 degrees. The coldest temperatures are expected Wednesday and Thursday mornings. High temperatures are expected to stay below 60 degrees until Friday.
SHOWERS
As expected, light hit-or-miss showers fell across the region late Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Accumulations were light. (Image 2)
THE NEXT CHANCE FOR RAIN
The models disagree, but some important ones (European, Canadian) have a chance of rain returning late Sunday-early Monday, and then again late Monday-early Tuesday of next week. Here’s how the European model sees it. (Images 4 and 5)
The GFS model is dry, but has been trending towards the others. We’ll see if it jumps onboard.
All models agree on a greater chance of storms returning in March, with a broad trough of low pressure setting up over the West. (Image 6) The European model is the wettest at present, showing a good amount of rain possible by the first week of March. (Image 7) We’ll keep you updated.
