CALIFORNIA TURNING VERY DRY FOR AT LEAST 10 DAYS
After a wetter than average November, the state of California is about to turn bone dry. As we all know, these extended rainless periods are part of life in California, and the models agree that this one should stretch from Thanksgiving week, through early December.
High pressure is already moving in, and will set up along the West Coast by early next week.

Despite that, temperatures should remain seasonable. In the mid to upper 60s most days across Northern California. You can see the cold air trapped in an inversion layer in the Central Valley. Pretty typical in the winter.

After Thanksgiving, the 27th, things begin to change. Most models show a cold center of low pressure diving south into the Western U.S. east of California. That track would keep us mostly dry, but potentially usher in some cold air.

That might mean highs only in the 50s beginning around November 30th and lasting through the first week of December.

Almost all of the models keep us dry through the first week of December. However, a few runs of the European AI model drop a second low pressure center south off the California coast, ushering in a storm around the 5th or 6th of December.
This is way out in the future, and we’d normally discount this scenerio, except for the fact that the Euro AI has been among the most accurate longer range models recently. But until other models jump on board, we’ll leave it at that.

Overall, for now, there is widespread agreement on a 10-15 day stretch of dryness for the Golden State, spanning the end of November and the first week of December.
