AVELO AIRLINES EXPANSION IN SONOMA COUNTY NOW INCLUDES LAS VEGAS

With its inaugural flight on Thursday between Charles Schulz Sonoma County Airport and Las Vegas, newcomer Avelo Airlines continues an aggressive expansion of service to the North Bay.

Since announcing the new flight a couple of months ago, Avelo says interest in the Las Vegas service has been high, justifying its decision to launch the new destination.

Since its flights began at Sonoma County Airport less than 5 months ago, Avelo has already increased the frequency of it’s inaugural service to Burbank, and has hinted that more flights or destinations may be planned for the future.

Avelo’s business plan targets service to smaller, less congested airports like Sonoma County that are near major metro areas like the Bay Area. The arrival of the airline has been one factor prompting longtime carrier Alaska Airlines to increase its own flights between Sonoma County and Southern California.

The Las Vegas flights operate on Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday, leaving at 10:05AM with a return flight from Las Vegas arriving at 2:05PM.

All of this comes as Sonoma County Airport is in the midst of a major expansion project that will triple its size by the time of completion expected in the late fall of 2022.
