A TALE OF TWO STORMS

Share with Friends

As we enjoy perfect fall weather across the North Bay, another wet period may be less than a week away. Right now there is little certainty that we’ll get much rain, but let’s look at the current thinking.

All of the models agree that low pressure will dive into NorCal on both Friday and Monday.

Here is the Friday-Saturday forecast….

And then the Monday forecast pressure setup.

Little things can made a lot of difference weatherwise, especially in the fall. In this case the first system on Friday and Saturday may dig a bit further south into California than the Monday disturbance, giving us a better chance at rain showers.

Although the GFS model currently keeps us dry, some other prominent weather models bring a few tenths of an inch into the North Bay from Friday the 10th into Saturday the 11th.

It’s too early to look wilth any confidence at totals, but you can see the European model currently has the North Bay in the range of a quarter to a half inch. Rainfall falls off quickly from Marin county south.

Meanwhile, it looks like the Monday storm may miss us to the north and east, bringing nice rain and snow totals to the Sierra. The Canadian model is the wettest right now.

So, although it’s not yet a lock, there seems to be a nice chance for another fall-like storm on Friday and Saturday. And, with cool low pressure diving into California every few days, temperatures are likely to be on the cool side over the next 6-10 days. You can also see much of the rain expected to stay north of us for now over the next week or so.

More updates to come.
