TUESDAY WILL BE STORMY, WITH MORE WET ON THE HORIZON

Sunday’s satellite view shows the latest storm converging off the West Coast, with cold air plunging south while moisture streams in from the west.

That will set the stage for a potent storm, especially by late March standards. Rain and gusty winds will arrive in the North Bay early Tuesday as a cold front sweeps through supported by a deepening low pressure center off the coast.

The storm will be supported by a fairly strong jet streak, as well as a decent moisture feed. Not a major plume by midwinter standards, but enough to bring moderate rainfall totals to our region.

Forecast rainfall totals by late Wednesday have increased a bit, now between 1.5 and 3 inches for most of the North Bay.

After Wednesday we may get mostly dry weather on Thursday and most of Friday before another storm is expected to drop into California on Saturday.

And the extended forecast has flipped, now showing a trough of low pressure hanging tight over the West Coast, allowing disturbances to potentially drop in. This setup may keep us wetter than normal for early April.

More updates to come as this forecast evolves.
