Storm Delivers. More to Come!

The first wave of moisture from our current storm performed as expected, with a warm front bring a quarter to full inch of rain to Sonoma County and the North Bay. (Image 1)

By midday Saturday the cold frontal boundary which is next to arrive was impressive as it approached the California coast. (Image 2)

The latest high resolution models have trended wetter and stronger with this part of the storm. They show the cold front bringing around a half inch of rain to low elevations in the North Bay, with more in the hills beginning late Saturday and continuing into Sunday morning. (Images 3 and 4)

Together with the Friday afternoon/Saturday morning rain, the storm total will likely reach well over an inch in many places in Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, Lake and Marin counties.

More good news. A storm expected to pass to our north on Thursday looks more promising, with a southward track that could bring us a nice dose of rain. (Image 5) More to come on that.

And another storm next weekend (Saturday night the 19th) is looking promising as well. Here is the forecast from the European high resolution model. (Image 6)

So the outlook is improving for additional rain across Northern California in the coming week.  Stay tuned for more details!
