Smoky Air to Improve Over Sonoma County

Air quality across Sonoma County and much of the North Bay remains at unhealthy levels for sensitive groups, but forecasters say the smoky conditions should improve throughout Monday.

Santa Rosa’s air quality index was 107, which is unhealthy for sensitive groups, but smoky conditions varied greatly within a few miles as the smoke plume shifted.

As the Kincade Fire puts out less smoke, and that smoke is generated from the growth area near Mt. St. Helena, our air in the North Bay should gradually improve.

Here is the view from the satellite this afternoon, showing smoke drifting south over Sonoma County, and out to sea.

Winds may briefly shift onshore, before the next, moderate wind event arrives late Tuesday with more offshore winds.
