Santa Rosa Police Chief Tells Skeptical Protesters Violence Will Be Investigated

Share with Friends

About a thousand marchers organized by the Santa Rosa youth group What We are Fighting For gathered for a Monday afternoon rally and march protesting police brutality. Around 6PM demonstators left Courthouse Square and proceeded to City Hall where they dropped off a list of demands with city officials.  The group’s main demand is a defunding of the Santa Rosa Police Department.

At City Hall, the demonstrators, many angry over police use of force, were met by police chief Ray Navarro.  He told them incidents of violence and the use of force against protesters in the past week are being investigated.  For their part, march organizers told Navarro they were skeptical anything would be done.
