Red Flag Warnings, No PG&E Power Shutoffs Forecast

Share with Friends

As the North Bay prepares for more Red Flag fire weather, the good news is that PG&E is so far not expecting to shut the power down anywhere in our region.  (To our north, the power will likely be shut down for portions of Yuba, Butter and Plumas counties.)

As winds rise by 8PM Saturday night through 10AM Sunday morning, a Red Flag Warning will be in effect for the hills of Napa, Sonoma and Marin and Lake counties.

The brief wind event is being caused by a ridge of high pressure nosing over California, with low pressure well offshore.

Here are the forecast winds.  The yellow highlights in the hills show where the stronger winds will set up.

The winds will die down by noon Sunday, but the heat will continue with inland areas of the North Bay reaching the 90s Sunday and Monday before a cool down on Tuesday.

Looking further ahead, another Red Flag wind event may take place on Wednesday night as the pressure gradient once again steepens.  We will keep you up to date as that potential Red Flag event draws nearer.
