LIVE: A social media-organized rally at Santa Rosa’s Courthouse Square turned into a march Saturday with hundreds of demonstrators heading down Mendocino Avenue shortly after 1PM to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department. Protestors held signs demanding justice for George Floyd, the Minneapolis man killed on May 25th, and expressing anger at law enforcement personnel.

As the large crowd joined in chants of “no peace, no justice” and “I can’t breathe”, the gathering turned tense as a small group of the protestors approached the glass windows of the locked building.

While a sheriff’s department drone hovered overhead, three sheriff’s deputies on the rooftop watched without intervening.

The rally was one of dozens in cities across the United States today.
