A high pressure ridge will build over Northern California Thursday (Image 1) and stay through Saturday. That will cause temperatures to soar as much as 20 degrees above normal across the West (Image 2), and Northern California. (Image 3)
The NWS Bay Area has issued a Heat Advisory for Friday for inland areas (Image 4), and is warning of heat impacts. (Image 5)
After 90s inland on Thursday, the hottest inland spots will top 100 degrees on Friday, the hottest day. (Image 6) Here is a forecast for various Northern California cities that day. (Image 7)
Throughout the event, a continuing sea breeze means the coast will stay cool, in the 70s. (Image 8)
By Sunday, low pressure will push in. (Image 9) This will bring a big drop in temperatures. (Image 10) Highs on Sunday will be back in the 70s to mid 80s inland, with a strong sea breeze. (Image 11)
