Happy Crowds Flock to Reopened Sonoma County Beaches

Share with Friends

It was hot inland but cool and sunny at the beaches as thousands of Sonoma County residents headed to the coast on Wednesday.

A revised health order reopened parking lots and beaches to outdoor activites for the first time in weeks, and by early in the day Doran Beach parking was already full.  Visitors flocked to the coast for cool temperatures in the high 60s, perfect for sunbathing, surfing, kite flying, and digging in the sand.

Sonoma County Regional Parks opened Wednesday, but state park officials say Sonoma County’s coastal state parks including beaches and parking lots won’t be open until Saturday.  First state park staff have to clear parking barriers and get facilities ready for the expected crowds.

Already on Wednesday, those who were lucky enough to escape to the coast were loving every minute.
