Fire Cameras Show Stewarts Fire Burning Near Lake Sonoma

Share with Friends

The Stewarts Fire, which is burning west of the Dry Creek Valley, has been a new focus of Sonoma County firefighters on Wednesday.  Late in the afternoon, AlertWildFire cameras at Geysers Peak and Rockpile showed the fire expanding actively to the north. The blaze was first spotted on fire camera Wednesday morning, and may have been a spot fire from the larger Walbridge Fire.

The blaze quickly became a dangerous fire that has expanded north and east and prompted mandatory evacuation orders east to Dry Creek Road in the Dry Creek Valley, and north to Stewarts Pt Skaggs Springs Road.

Scarce air resources were called in early in the day to try to control its spread, and there has been no estimate as yet of the size of the fire.
