PG&E announced late Monday that parts of 21 Northern California counties would likely be impacted by power shutoffs beginning on Wednesday afternoon. The PSPS Watch announcement comes as weather forecasters predict a period of strong gusty winds across the North Bay from Wednesday night through Thursday morning.
In Sonoma County PG&E says the shutdown will impact 1781 customers in mostly rural areas. These include mountainous areas east of Healdsburg and Windsor, and east of the Sonoma Valley. Shutoffs would begin at 6PM Wednesday afternoon, with restoration by 10AM Thursday.
In Napa County the shutoffs would target large areas of the upper Napa Valley, including Calistoga and areas around St. Helena for a total of 9230 customers.
Less than 100 customers are projected to be impacted in Lake County, and none at this point in Mendocino County. Other counties impacted include several in the eastern and southern portions of the greater Bay Area.
As always in PSPS events, PG&E says it may adjust affected areas and the number of customers impacted in the coming days.
