Windsor Farmer’s Market Kicks Off with New Rules
A two decade old event ushering in the summer season returned to the town of Windsor on Sunday, but with several key changes due to the ongoing coronavirus emergency.
The Windsor Farmer’s Market drew hundreds to the town green to pick up a variety of fresh produce, cheeses and meats, baked goods, and prepared foods.
Like other outdoor markets in the region, the market is considered an essential business, but visitors found a variety of changes designed to comply with the county’s social distancing rules. Booths were required to be ten feet apart, everyone from vendors to visitors wore masks, and there was no sampling of fresh produce. Also, no public restrooms were offered, and customers were urged to avoid unnecessary contact.
Due to continued guidelines prohibiting large gatherings, special events like music has been canceled, and there has not yet been a decision on whether to operate the Thursday night market and concert series.
Still, market manager Tina Castelli told News of the North Bay most customers and vendors were taking the changes in stride.
