Winds, Temperatures to Rise, Fire Conditions Heighten through Thursday

The passage of a cold trough to our north has kept Northern California relatively cool on Tuesday, but high pressure will be building back into the region on Wednesday.  With this will come much warmer temperatures and a wind shift to the northeast which will bring much drier air and rising fire weather concerns through Thursday.

CAL FIRE has suspended all permits for outdoor residential burning throughout the North Bay, which includes the counties of Sonoma, Lake, Napa, Solano, Yolo and Colusa Counties.

You can see the cold front and associated trough moving through the Pacific Northwest and Northern California.  The main thing that will reach us are high clouds and shifting winds.

By Wednesday temperatures will rebound into the 80s and lower 90s.  With that will come offshore winds from the northeast which will help to dry out fuels and increase the fire danger.

A red flag warning is in place for the northern Sacramento Valley, but has not yet been raised for the Bay Area or North Bay.  However winds are expected to increase across the mountains of the North Bay on Wednesday, but the duration and strength of the winds are not expected to reach Red Flag criteria.

Highs will quickly jump into the 80s to mid 90s through Thursday.  Even Friday will be above 90 in many places in the North Bay before slight cooling arrives for the weekend.

Highs Wednesday

Highs Thursday

Saturday should be the coolest day in the North Bay before temperatures once again rise to seasonable levels, in the 80s to low 90s, through most of next week.
