Winds and Continued Drying Forecast for Sunday Night

Share with Friends

The National Weather Service is forecasting another burst of dry offshore winds overnight, which will make things even more difficult for firefighters battling Napa County’s Glass Fire.  The winds will once again come from the northeast and east.

Here are two model forecasts of winds over Napa and Sonoma Counties at about the 1500 foot ridge level at approximately midnight on Sunday.  Both show increasing winds, with strongest winds over Sonoma County.  The first predicts winds in the 40 mile per hour range, with higher gusts, while the second forecasts lighter winds, in the 20-30 mile per hour range, with higher gusts.

Hundreds of firefighters are on the lines at the Glass Fire, and approximately 5 thousand Napa County residents are under evacuation orders or warnings.

Sonoma County has increased staffing throughout the Red Flag Warning period which runs through Monday at 9PM.
