Whew! One More Storm to Go...

Saturday’s storm blew through the North Bay with mid-winter fury, dropping anywhere from one half to 3 inches of rain. Santa Rosa recorded almost an inch and a half, while Venado, the wet spot in Sonoma County, logged around 3 inches. That means some 10 inches of rain has fallen at Venado…since Thursday!

Sunday morning, the cold center of low pressure rotated through the Bay Area, setting off brief heavy rain and thundershowers.

Up in the Sierra, a few places saw more than a foot of snow which piled up on top of the foot and a half that fell in some spots on Thursday night and Friday. Here’s how it looked Sunday at Yosemite’s Glacier Point. Quite a winter wonderland…in May!

We will have a break late on Sunday, and Monday before the last in the current series of storms arrives. This system will hit the North Bay Monday night and continue for much of Tuesday before we clear out.

Here is the Monday night storm out in the Pacific.

The next storm looks impressive, but it shouldn’t drop anywhere near as much rain as the past two. Expect perhaps a quarter to half inch in the North Bay on Monday night and Tuesday, before we…yes, begin to clear up.

The rest of the week looks partly cloudy to sunny, with gradually warming temperatures…up into the low 70s. And in case you’ve heard the rumors of showers on the Memorial Day weekend…those are true. But any showers shouldn’t be all that widespread.

In fact, forecast models show a high pressure ridge forming off the coast by Memorial Day. It may be cooler than normal, but fine for outdoor activities for the upcoming Holiday Weekend.
