Weather Outlook Good for Fire-Anxious California

Share with Friends

After the Red Flag Warnings, record high temperatures and high fire danger of this past week, the long range forecast for Northern California brings some very good news to anxious residents.

Through the upcoming week, the forecast is for a series of low pressure systems to move through the West, dropping cool and even cold air into the state from the north, and even some rain and snow at times.

Here’s what the forecasted parade of low pressure troughs looks like.

And the rain and snow for the West.

Next weekend looks cool as well, with a low center just north of California on Saturday.

By late next week, temperatures will still be running 5-10 degrees below normal across California, and the rest of the West.

All of this cool weather reduces the fire risk, and indications are that near normal or slightly below normal temperatures may be with us right through the middle of October.   Fingers crossed!
