As this system heads out of our area, another is poised to bring more rain on Saturday. You can see the outbound system and the next storm dropping south from Alaska on this wide view of the North Pacific.
By Saturday, the low pressure center associated with our second storm will be off the Northern California coast.
By Saturday afternoon, rain and heavy mountain snow will return to most of Northern California. The storm track for this system is over the ocean, with a low spinning off the California and Oregon coast.
Off and on rain and showers may continue through Sunday, and potentially into Monday. Here are the storm totals by Tuesday via the National Blend of Models. Very similar to Thursday’s storm.
The system will have a huge impact in the Sierra, where by Wednesday, 4-5 feet of snow are possible above 6 thousand feet.
There continue to be hints of more storms later in the month. We’ll have updates as those events come into the medium range forecast window.
