UPDATE: NORTH BAY STORMS THIS WEEK
A big change is underway in the Pacific that will bring rain to California by early Wednesday. There are significant storms lined up for Wed-Thurs, Friday, and Sun-Mon at this point, with the potential for several inches of rain for the North Bay.
You can see the first storm out to the West of California. That will intensify and arrive Wednesday morning. Another small spinning storm can be seen to the south near San Diego. That one missed us.
Through Tuesday, weather will be sunny and temperatures in the 60s. By late Tuesday the first storm will be on our doorstep, with rain expected Wednesday into Wednesday night.
This medium-sized storm may bring the North Bay 1-2 inches of rain by Thursday. The impact will be much greater in the Sierra, with lots of low elevation rain and snow above 5K feet.
Another storm sweeps in early Friday, with enough moisture to add about a half to three quarters of an inch to the North Bay totals.
The final storm in the series is expected Sunday. The trend has been to weaken this storm a bit, but it could still drop another inch across the North Bay, giving us 5 day totals of 3 inches most places, with up to 5 inches of rain in the hills.
Monday the 17th should be showery, with clearing on Tuesday. After that, high pressure builds in for a few days, bringing warming and dry weather.
And, there’s good news for our statewide water supply outlook, and skiers. The storms will be fairly cold and should drop lots of snow up in the Sierra, up to 4-6 feet of the white stuff above 5 thousand feet from Wednesday the 12th, through Monday the 17th.
Finally, for the last 10 days of March the models are hinting that we may be showery at times as a low pressure trough sticks around the West Coast.
More updates to come.
