Tucker Fire in Modoc County Grows Slowly
Favorable weather conditions have helped crews fighting the Tucker Fire in Modoc County, in extreme northeastern California.
At just over 14 thousand acres, the blaze is now the largest fire in the state this year. After growing quickly on Monday, winds died down Tuesday allowing crews to establish containment lines around a large part of the fire.
The flames are burning near the Clear Lake National Wildlife refuge, and investigators have determined that the fire was unintentionally sparked by a vehicle.
No structures have been lost so far, and no one has been injured but fire crews are bracing for a possible uptick in activity with an expected increase in winds by Wednesday afternoon.
