NASA satellite images using thermal sensing technology show how dramatically the Walbridge Fire and Meyers fires have spread across rural area of west Sonoma County since first being detected on August 18th.

The first image shows the Walbridge Fire on the 18th, a day after it was sparked by a morning lightning storm on Monday the 17th.  The Meyers Fire is seen in the lower left.

In this image from a day later, Wednesday the 19th, the Walbridge and Meyers Fires have expanded to the south and east.  The Stewarts Fire shows up for the first time as a thermal hot spot.

By Thursday the 20th, the growth of the fires has continued and the Stewarts Fire can be seen near Lake Sonoma.  The Walbridge Fire had reached Sweetwater Springs Road to the south and had grown eastward to about halfway down Mill Creek Road in its central area, and had almost merged with the Stewarts Fire on its northern boundary.
