THE NORTH BAY FORECAST IN THREE GRAPHICS

Share with Friends

Our record hot July weather will soon be coming to an end and by the weekend temperatures across Northern California will actually be slightly below average for late July.

On Wednesday, a surge of subtropical moisture was bringing showers to eastern areas of California. By contrast, across our region dry air at the lowest levels of the atmosphere continued to inhibit the formation of thunderstorms.

The bigger weather story is the arrival of cooler air on Thursday through the weekend. A low pressure system meandering up the West Coast will be captured by the westerlies and move inland by late Thursday, breaking the heat wave and bringing cooler air with it.

By Saturday high temperatures will be 5-10 degrees below average for this time of year across the North Bay, with highs both Saturday and Sunday from 75-85 in most inland areas.

Most models agree that the pleasant weather will continue through Tuesday, but after that they diverge with some trending toward a warming trend, and others keeping us cool. We’ll have more updates as the forecast evolves.
