Sunny, Then More Rain on Wednesday

Share with Friends

If you enjoyed the rain there is good news ahead. Another Pacific storm system is due in on Wednesday and will likely drop around another inch of rain over most of Sonoma County.

The system is gaining strength in the North Pacific ocean as seen in the Monday satellite view. (Image 1)

The rain should arrive in our area by late afternoon on Wednesday. (Image 2)

Total rain amounts currently forecast look good. Up to an inch in the valleys of the North Bay with more in the hills. (Image 3)

Beyond Wednesday the outlook is more uncertain.  A storm originally due to arrive this weekend may be pushed north of our area. And models disagree whether another storm on Tuesday of next week will get this far south.  Here’s the Canadian outlook for Tuesday. It’s the most optimistic of the major models. (Image 4)

I wouldn’t count on this storm at this point. Further ahead most forecast models agree that high pressure will move back in for the last week of the month.  Here’s the outlook for Christmas Day. A ridge over the West Coast. (Image 5)

Beyond that?  There are indications that more storms may push in just before New Year’s. Here is how the GFS sees our weather for December 29th.  This is FAR in the future so the forecast is anything but certain. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for now.  (Image 6)
