The Atmosperhic River storm system arrived in the North Bay overnight, blowing in with heavy rain and high winds, and dropping impressive rainfall totals by midday. Flood Watches and High Wind Advisories are up for the entire North Bay region. As of midday small creeks were rising but only minor urban flooding had been reported.

The AR was being driven by an intense low pressure center spinning west of British Columbia.

Rainfall across the North Bay ramped up in the early morning hours Wednesday and has been moderate to heavy since then.

As of noon, rainfall was already topping 5 inches in the hills of Sonoma County, at stations near Occidental and Austin Creek north of Guerneville. Over 3 inches had fallen at Cazadero and over 4 inches at Venado in the hills west of Healdsburg.

The plume of moisture is forecast to remain over the North Bay through at least Thursday, before being pushed south.
