Sonoma County Cases at 66, 52 Active. Virtual Town Hall Tuesday.
Early Monday afternoon, the Sonoma County public health lab reported that the total number of coronavirus infections across the county had reached 66, with 52 active cases, 13 people recovered, and one death. That is an increase of 8 cases since the last report.
They listed the number of Sonoma County residents who have received tests at 1551. That would put Sonoma County testing at just under one third of one percent. Roughly in line with the rest of California.
Governor Gavin Newsom says he is working hard to ramp up testing greatly across the state, with thousands of new tests being performed daily, and regional health officials say there is still a backlog of tests that have not yet been counted.
That means the number of positive tests will continue to grow in the coming days and weeks. One analysis out of Washington State estimates the state will hit is peak number of cases on April 24th, and most public health officials say numbers will continue to grow for at least the next few weeks.
Meantime, a coalition of Bay Area governments expect preliminary results in the next few days from modeling commissioned to determine if, and to what degree shelter-in-place orders first issued on March 17th have helped to blunt the spread of the coronavirus.
In Sonoma County, Norcal Public Media, KCRB, is planning another virtual town hall on Tuesday March 31st, from 7-8PM. The town hall will be livestreamed on norcalpublicmedia.org as well as at norcal public media on Facebook. News of the North Bay will share the feed on our Facebook page as well, www.facebook.com/newsofthenorthbay
