Snowy Sunday in the Sierra. Rain for Us by Saturday?
Just in case you were doubting that precipitation would ever fall again in California, these pictures from Sunday morning near Tahoe should help a bit.
No, rain didn’t fall across the North Bay, but 6-12 inches of new snow did blanket the Sierra, and a cold front brought us cool air, wind, and rain to the central coast.
This week, high pressure will build back in, but that will be short-lived. As we’ve been reporting, a pattern shift should take place beginning around next Saturday the 7th of March. The Euro model sees rain arriving that day.
After that, a trough is expected to sit over the West Coast through mid-month at least. Models show at least one, and possibly two storms from March 10-15. Here is an outlook for March 12th.
And the GFS outlook for late on March 14th.
And as far out as the models can see, there is general agreement that the trough and chance for storms will remain for California.
Over the next two weeks, rain could begin to pile up…most falling after the 8th. This is the GFS outlook. Other models are not quite so bullish, but all show significant rain.
It may not be a March Miracle just yet, but much needed rain will return to Northern California and the North Bay soon. And looks to stay around through at least mid-month. Stay tuned!
