SHOWERS INBOUND FOR WEDNESDAY, COOL FOR SEVERAL DAYS
A second unseasonably cool upper level low pressure center will dive south over California on Wednesday, bringing a chance for widespread showers to the region.
You can see the system approaching California from the northwest, while Monday’s storm spins up over Idaho and Montana.
The National Blend of Models forecasts showers to arrive Wednesday before noon across the North Bay, with perhaps a tenth of an inch of rainfall expected in our region by Thursday. The showers will be hit and miss. Some places in the hills like Venado and Cazadero may receive up to a quarter of an inch, while the North Bay valleys could miss out altogether.
The upper low will be unusually cool and deep for September, just like the one on Monday that has moved east and is now over Montana.
We won’t get much rain but we will get lots of cool air, with highs well below normal into the upcoming weekend.
By early next week, a ridge of high pressure will return to the West, with temperatures warming back up to slightly above normal, into the 80s and low 90s across the North Bay.
And the long range outlooks suggest that California may not see much additional rain through the end of September. We hope they’re wrong. Stay tuned for updates!
