Santa Rosa High Graduates Get Rousing Drive-Through Sendoff

Share with Friends

High school seniors all across the North Bay are being treated to very special, though unusual, graduation ceremonies this year.

Since the coronavirus emergency was declared in March, high school seniors along with other students throughout Sonoma County have attended virtual classes. But rather than cancel in-person graduation ceremonies, parents, teachers and students devised other, more creative ways to celebrate.

This afternoon Santa Rosa High School graduates attended a drive-through ceremony featuring a giant balloon arch, a t-shirt giveaway, music courtesy of a DJ and cheering parents and teachers.

Tonight and Friday night hundreds of other seniors from throughout Sonoma County will participate in similar drive-thru ceremonies to mark the end of their high school careers.

The Sonoma County class of 2020 is a very special one. Its members have the distinction of attending high school during some of the most historic events in Sonoma County history, including the 2017 October Firestorm, the 2019 Kincade Fire and this year’s coronavirus emergency.
