Record Rainfall. Russian River Still Rising.

The record setting atmospheric river storm of Monday and Tuesday shattered records all across Sonoma County and the North Bay. Santa Rosa set an all time 24 hour rainfall record of 5.66 inches. Venado in the northwest part of Sonoma County recorded more than 21 inches. Lake Sonoma recorded 11 inches. Here is the map of storm totals.

The atmospheric river responsible for all of the rain finally shifted south around 2AM Wednesday, after sitting over Sonoma and Marin Counties for some 36 hours straight. You can see it quickly moving out of California.

Meantime, the Russian River continues to rise, already at 42 feet at Guerneville as of Wednesday morning, 10 feet over flood stage, and 27 feet at Healdsburg, 4 feet over flood stage. The Russian is expected to reach a crest of 46 feet at Guerneville at 10PM Wednesday.

Major flooding will continue to occur along the lower Russian River until the river returns to its banks, not expected until late in the evening on Thursday.
