New Mountain Lion Kittens Caught on Camera

The Living with Lions team in the North Bay has captured stunning video images of the newest kittens to be born to a tagged lion in the region.

The video captured this past weekend near Kenwood shows the first litter of kittens born to mountain lion P16. The video of the one week old kittens was taken on Saturday, February 22nd as the mother was out hunting.

The kittens were located by Living with Lions founder Quinton Martins, and their play was recorded without human contact.

The mother, nicknamed Luna, was collared in March of 2019 and is believed to be between 2 1/2 and 3 years old.

News of the North Bay recently reported on the Living with Lions program, a four year partnership with Audubon Canyon Ranch, to track mountain lions and learn more about them while educating the public about the important role lions play in the North Bay ecosystem.
