Homeless Advocates Assemble, Distribute COVID-19 Protection Kits
A coalition of Sonoma County homeless advocacy groups gathered together under a freeway overpass in downtown Santa Rosa Saturday to assemble and distribute COVID-19 wellness kits for the region’s unsheltered population.
Sonoma County Acts of Kindness, the Squeaky Wheel Bicycle Coalition and others joined together to assemble 200 kits. The kits included hand sanitizer made on the spot, masks, gloves and nutritional items.
The same groups have been making and distributing food to 140 homeless people each day during the COVID-19 crisis.
Acts of Kindness’ Heather Jackson told News of the North Bay the effort is an important part of protecting some of the region’s most vulnerable people.
