HERE COMES MORE RAIN. TOTALS MAY BE IMPRESSIVE OVER THE COMING WEEK.
Deep low pressure remains off the California coast as two more storms are lined up and visible on Friday’s satellite image. (Image 1)
By late Saturday the North Bay could receive 1/2 to an inch of additional rain, with more in the hills. Here are the European and National Blend of Models estimates. (Images 2 and 3)
Then, after mostly dry weather for Easter Sunday and Monday, another storm arrives Monday night. (Image 4) This storm may track a bit north, leaving us with only an additional third to half inch of rain.
Here are possible totals by late Tuesday. The Euro and GFS are in close agreement. (Images 5 and 6)
LATE NEXT WEEK
By later in the coming week another storm is forecast to approach Northern California. Deep low pressure is expected to amplify off the coast by Thursday (Image 7), ushering in what appears to be a significant storm. (Image 8)
As we’ve reported, this storm may tap into some moisture and energy from former typhoon Malakas that is being pulled westward by the jet stream. (Image 9)
The models have been in agreement for some time that this storm may bring significant rain to the North Coast. The additional rain for the North Bay may be in the range of 1 inch or more, with more in the hills. Here are estimates of total accumulated rainfall by the 23rd. (Images 10 and 11)
Beyond that, it’s all guesswork. But it looks like April may not be done with Northern California. Long range forecasts show the Northern Pacific remaining active. (Image 12)
