HEAT AND INCREASED FIRE DANGER THIS WEEK

Share with Friends

A four to five day heat up will bring temperatures to near 100 degrees to the hottest spots of the North Bay from Tuesday through Friday. By the weekend we should cool back down close to normal, in the 80s for daytime highs.

High pressure will build in rapidly this week across California.

This will cause temperatures to soar 10-15 degrees higher than average for early September, in the 90s to 105 inland from Tuesday into Friday.

Although no wind events are currently in the forecast, fire danger will rise this week with the heat and low humidity. The National Fire Outlook also forecasts the threat building across the West through September.

By Friday and especially Saturday the high pressure dome will weaken as low pressure pushes in from the northwest. This will bring our temperatures back into the 80s by Saturday and Sunday. That cooling should stick around throughout the week of the 9th.

In fact, long range outlooks show the potential for a relatively cooler period mid-month (September 10-17) under the influence of low pressure. We’ll keep an eye on things and update the forecast as needed.
