Glass Fire Toxic Debris Removal Slated to Begin this Week
Hazardous debris removal is expected to begin this week on more than 300 Sonoma County and Santa Rosa city properties that were severely damaged or destroyed in the Glass Fire.
The so called Phase 1 of the cleanup will be undertaken by the state of California Department of Toxic Substance Control. In recent weeks state teams fanned out across the area to assess all properties in the burn zone. That assessment identified 297 properties in the county and more than 50 within Santa Rosa that required cleanup which is mandatory before any other debris removal or rebuilding can begin.
