First Rain Since January! Here’s What’s Coming.
The North Bay was treated to its first moisture since January on Friday, as a weak cold front approached Northern California and brought widespread drizzle to the region.
The rain ends an historic dry period in which much of California including the North Bay saw no rain at all in February, which had never happened in over 100 years of record keeping.
Here is the approaching storm system on satellite.
The storm won’t bring us much rain, but we will pick up perhaps a quarter inch by Sunday.
Looking further ahead, by Wednesday a cut off low pressure system will be coming onshore across California. Most of the heavy rain, unfortunately, will be directed toward Southern California with us on the northern edge. But, depending on the track of the storm, we may still get some much needed rain.
Even further out, it looks like unsettled weather will stay with us through most of March, as a trough of low pressure (blue) looks to stay anchored over the West Coast.
The long range models support the idea of more storms, showing wetter than normal weather through the end of the month.
Another forecast for the end of the month.
So, beginning this weekend, and continuing for a couple of weeks at least, cooler, unsettled weather will be with us. Still uncertain is whether any big storms are still in the offing for the North Bay, before warm, dry weather returns.
